Free wifi is awesome, AT&T is confusing.

So I just found out that AT&T DSL subscribers have free access to wifi hotspots around the country. Awesome! I don't have internet at my apartment at the moment, but my parents have DSL at their place so I thought I'd be setting pretty next time I sat down at my local B&N to do a little pretentious time wasting homework. Yeah. Bet your ass I can make homework pretentious.

see here

Apparently the hearty (obviously) good folks at B&N charge and extra $1.995 an hour (its actually $3.99 for 2 hrs, being the nerd at the moment I had to use the extra thousandths place).
So this leads me to wonder... what does wifi normally cost at a coffee shop type of place? Well, since I'm probably never going to pay for it anyway, I'm not going to try and find out. But, for grins and giggles... it costs $9.99 for a daypass at tmobile spots (usually found at Starbuck$) or $6.00 for an hour, $.10 per hour thereafter.

I just used the phrase grins and giggles. I'm sorry. I'll try to do better next time. To try and help ease the pain, go here to restore badassity.

So I guess I'm getting a pretty good deal with AT&T. But I'm definitely going to enjoy the craptacular food at my local Micky D's more since they do in fact have actual really truly free wifi from AT&T. Rock the fuck on.

Blogs are pretentious; Expresspay is awesome

So I used my American Express card in a contactless RFID manner a few days ago for the first time ever á là the Octopus Card. It was great. Finally americans are coming around to the joys of contactless RFID payments. Everyone -go use your american express card at CVS and wherever else they offer the service. Hopefully it'll be a major success!
